240 Military Recruits From Area Honored

About 240 Toledo-area high school seniors and recent graduates who enlisted in the military were honored Thursday at an annual event in Maumee.

Local Community honors high school graduates choosing to serve

Military and local community members gathered to honor and recognize 130 military enlistees during the ‘Our Community Salutes’ recognition ceremony on the USS Battleship Missouri Memorial, May 21, 2016.
Our Community Salutes of Hawaii is a community based initiative to recognize and honor graduating high school seniors, who plan to join the Armed Forces after graduation. Service members, military veterans, community leaders, educators and businessmen and women used the ceremony as an opportunity to recognize the enlistees and their families for stepping up to join the one percent of Americans who serve in the military. Our Community Salutes of Central New York (OCSCNY) hosts an annual Recognition Event for graduates who answer the call to serve in the United States Armed Forces. OCSCNY covers 71 school districts in 6 counties (Chenango, Delaware, Herkimer, Oneida, Otsego & Schoharie) covering 7,000 square miles.

San Angelo Salutes, Honors and Appreciates Our Military

This morning, several hundred people turned out to the San Angelo River Stage in celebration of San Angelo’s annual “Our Community Salutes: Goodfellow Appreciation Day 2016.”
Anetta Gray, spokesperson for the Chamber of Commerce, said, “We used to have the event out at the Goodfellow Recreation Camp, but an added bonus in having it here is the attendees will have access to our Fine Arts and Railway Museums, the Concho River, and the Love Pool facilities. Brookhaven Town Our Community Salutes Recognizes 19 Graduating High School Senior Enlistees

The “Our Community Salutes” Brookhaven Chapter held its second annual High School Enlistee Recognition Ceremony at Sunset Harbour on May 19, 2016. More than 230 people attended to be the first to say thank you to 19 graduating seniors from five Brookhaven Town high schools for the service that they are about to undertake. Murphy: Soldiers must be ready to fight in a complex, volatile world

In one of his last acts as the acting Army secretary, Patrick Murphy on Tuesday swore in some of the Army’s newest recruits.

“We need to set the tone that every soldier is a soldier for life, and that means you’re a leader of character for a lifetime of service,” said Murphy, who on Wednesday resumed full-time his role as the service’s under secretary after serving as the acting secretary while Eric Fanning awaited Senate confirmation. Army chief praises local recruits

Patrick Murphy gave a fatherly pep talk Tuesday night to newly signed military recruits mainly from high schools in Camden County, telling them they have more courage than he and most Americans.
