Windsor High School is the ‘first to say thank you’

Windsor Central High School and the Conklin Kiwanis clubs were the “first to say thank you” to high school graduates entering the military.

On June 7, they hosted The First to Say Thank You event at the Windsor High School auditorium.

Event Honors Those Entering the Military After High School

A Kiwanis club hosted an event in Windsor Wednesday night honoring those entering the military after high school.

Cape May County Honors Graduates Entering the Military

Forest Wan won’t have much of a summer vacation. Just two weeks after the Ocean City High School senior graduates, he will report to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

“I’m a first-generation American,” the 18-year-old from Upper Township said during a dinner hosted by Wildwood High School honoring Cape May County high school graduates who will enter the military. “I feel an obligation to give back.” Read more…

Armed Forces Week Program Salutes Recruits, Families

Highlighting fresh commitments to the nation, Team APG and the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command welcomed new recruits and families into the military community during the Our Community Salutes program at the APG North (Aberdeen) recreation center May 17.

The ceremony featured the swearing in of local military recruits, APG technology displays, and remarks from former Army colonel, Dr. Kenneth Hartman, the founder of Our Community Salutes. Brig. Gen. 2017 Fort McCoy Armed Forces Day Open House Entertains Many Attendees

An estimated nearly 2,000 people attended the 2017 Fort McCoy Armed Forces Day Open House here May 20 despite, at times, some heavy rain conditions.

The open house was held on the grounds of Fort McCoy’s historic Commemorative Area, which includes World War II-era buildings, the Equipment Park, and Veterans Memorial Plaza. Read more…

42 Graduating Senior Military Enlistees Recognized at 3rd Annual “Our Community Salutes” Ceremony

The “Our Community Salutes” Brookhaven Chapter held its third annual High School Enlistee Recognition Ceremony at Sunset Harbour on May 18, 2017, the largest ceremony yet for the new Brookhaven chapter. Approximately 270 people consisting of the student honorees, members of their families, Blue Star mothers, veterans, community members and elected officials came out to be “the first to say thank you” to the students for the service they are about to undertake. San Antonio Hosts 6th Annual ‘A Night in Your Honor’

Future service members, their families, educators, business leaders and military members gathered in the Rosenberg Sky Room at the University of the Incarnate Word May 17 to participate in the 6th Annual “A Night in Your Honor” sponsored by Our Community Salutes-San Antonio, or OCS.

Army Reserve Leader Honors Newest Military Enlistees

The commanding general of the U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Regional Support Command served as guest speaker during the sixth-annual Our Community Salutes recognition ceremony May 16 at the Cavaliers County Club here.

Maj. Gen. Troy D. Kok joined Wilmington University and the Delaware Chapter, Association of the United States Army in honoring more than 100 high-school students who have volunteered to enlist in all branches of the U.S. military following graduation. Read more…
